First piece in England

This is the kind of painting that really draws you in and it seems like you could stare into the character's eyes for all eternity. There is definitely a sense that the character is trying to tell you something - perhaps she is distrustful, skeptical or distressed. The point is you don't know what she is thinking, and that is why you could stare back at her for a long time, wondering what she is thinking.

In terms of improvement I have a few suggestions:
- There is so much wonderful detail in the character's face that other areas that have less detail seem unfinished. For example, her hair and the scarf. The folds in the scarf appear rushed and there does not seem to be much definition in the fold shapes. As for the hair, adding more highlights and hair strands might liven it up.
- Overall the shading is very good, but some areas could do with a little more darkening. For example where the hairline and the face meet there is very little defined shading. Also, the eye socket could do with a little more darkening especially from the eyebrow downward. As it is the eyebrows seem a little floaty because they do not cast a very strong shadow.

These are only suggestions and only intended to help add to an already fantastic painting.
